Building Craft: Plaster
Plaster: Molding, On-Site and Off-Site Casting, Trim, and Cornices
1 AIA CEU Credit
In this class, we will explore the art and craft of plaster, from its use as a wall surface to its intricate application as decorative trim. You’ll learn how plaster is fabricated and installed, whether molded on-site or cast off-site as an appliqué.
Our journey will include remarkable examples like the Château de Fontainebleau, Robert Adam’s Osterley Park, the John Soane Museum, and Antonio Gaudí’s Casa Güell. We will examine plaster as both a key architectural element and an ethereal, cloud-like surface that transforms spaces.
